Jamaican Teas Is HACCP Certified

Jamaican Teas Limited has been awarded the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification, which is the globally recognized risk-based system for managing food safety.

It provides the general principles of food hygiene from primary production through final consumption, highlighting key hygiene controls at each stage.

Built on the foundation of actual prerequisite programmes such as training, pest control and sanitation, HACCP applies control measures to prevent, remove, or reduce significant hazards to an acceptable level. The HACCP is a critical standard for food-producing businesses in the export market, as a lack of certification could constitute non-tariff barriers to exports.

The Ministry of Industry Commerce Agriculture and Fisheries has endorsed the HACCP Certification as an actual way for Jamaican food-processing businesses to propel in the export market, as it growths marketability and accountability.

The Jamaican Teas line of products include its Tetley and Caribbean Dreams brands. The HACCP Certificate was conferred on the Company on May 24, under the governing body of the NSF International (Costa Rica), an international public health and safety organization whose mission is the development of public health standards, and certification programmes that support protect the world's food, water, consumer products, and environment.
